Every Member a Missionary
In the most recent First Presidencey message President Eyring said "We need to exercise our faith that the Lord has prepared people around us to be taught. He knows who they are and when they are ready, and He can guide us to them by the power of the Holy Ghost and give us words to invite them to be taught. The promise the Lord gave to a missionary in 1832 is also the promise He gives to us in our charge to find people ready for teaching by the missionaries: “I will send upon him the Comforter, which shall teach him the truth and the way whither he shall go; and inasmuch as he is faithful, I will crown him again with sheaves” (D&C 79:2–3)." This work is too important to let it slip by thinking that tomorrow I will get to it. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland taught: “Much of the time we are just too casual about all of this. This is eternal life. This is the salvation of the children of God. Eternity hangs in the balance. . . . It is the most important path this [person] will ever walk. But if he or she doesn’t know that, at least you do! . . . So take control of this situation.” Are each of us doing all that we can to help those around us to come closer unto Christ? That is the purpose of a missionary and if each of us in a missionary than we each need to fulfill that purpose.
